The retailer was facing an ever increasing competitive market. Sales were in decline, and the existing cost base was too high. A major cost saving initiative was needed to radically reduce operational expenditure whilst restructuring the company to turn the situation around and drive sales and profit growth.
We agreed the saving targets needed by the organisation. We then led op model redesign work for new functions to reduce the cost base to the required number. We provided external challenge on costs, and managed the rollout of the required changes
New op model designs agreed with the executive board. Design was implemented and major savings are now being realised (including over £15m in-year in the first year).
