The department store chain needed IT and Digital functions that could support and drive its strategy to become digital first. However, the existing functions had disparate and immature operating models, and were seen to offer poor level of service. A part of a broader business op model transformation, these functions needed a radical overhaul to be fit for purpose.
We worked with the CIO to shape and lead the technology transformation programme. We facilitated the definition of a new technology strategy, we redesigned the IT and Digital functions, and then established the new Technology department with a focus on digital ways of working, being customer centric and data driven.
Within 6 months the new Technology function was in place. A new strategy was defined and communicated. Collective and individual consultation was complete, with the function rightly sized and structured to support programmes of work needed to support and drive the digital vision. Within the wider business transformation, the Technology function was ahead of all the other functions (save one) in implementation of its new op model.
