Preparing a London Transport Company for a successful SAP S/4HANA transformation

Enfuse helped a London Transport Company prepare for a major SAP S/4HANA transformation by establishing a robust business process management capability, documenting critical ERP processes and equipping business teams to engage confidently with system integrators.
Highlights
- Created a validated baseline of core Order-to-Cash (O2C) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes.
- Produced 200 SAP-ready process models across critical ERP process areas.
- Captured 17 mandatory transformation attributes required for system integrator mobilisation.
- Established a sustainable BPM capability designed to support future transformation initiatives.
- Equipped business stakeholders with the knowledge and confidence to challenge recommendations and make informed decisions.
- Generated follow-on transformation opportunities, resulting in additional strategic engagements.
About the project
A London Transport Company was preparing for a major SAP S/4HANA transformation programme and needed to establish strong foundations before system integrator mobilisation. While significant transformation activity was planned, there was no complete, consistent or SAP-ready view of core business processes across key ERP domains.
Leadership recognised that successful ERP delivery would depend on more than technology implementation alone. The organisation needed a clear understanding of how processes operated today, where improvements were required and how business teams could effectively engage throughout the programme.
Enfuse was engaged to help the client strengthen its business process management capability, build process visibility and create the process assets required to support a successful S/4HANA transformation.
Challenge
The organisation faced several challenges as it prepared for programme mobilisation:
- The organisation lacked a complete and validated view of its end-to-end ERP processes.
- Core Order-to-Cash (O2C) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes needed to be documented and validated to a level suitable for system integrator onboarding.
- Existing business process management capability was still evolving, creating gaps in visibility, governance and process ownership.
- Business teams needed greater confidence and capability to engage constructively with system integrator recommendations and design decisions.
- Without a robust process baseline, there was a risk of delays, knowledge gaps and misalignment during programme mobilisation.
- The organisation required sustainable process management practices that would continue to deliver value beyond the initial transformation programme.
The Enfuse approach
Enfuse combined business process management expertise with SAP transformation experience to establish the foundations required for successful programme delivery.
The team designed and implemented a business process management framework aligned to the organisation's transformation objectives, including governance structures, process modelling standards and SAP Signavio enablement. This ensured process documentation could be created and maintained consistently across the organisation.
Working closely with Global Process Owners, Business Analysts, Change Managers and deployment leads, Enfuse facilitated readiness workshops to build understanding of system integrator expectations and prepare teams for programme mobilisation.
The engagement also included extensive process discovery and validation activities across O2C and P2P processes. Through workshops and collaborative reviews, Enfuse documented end-to-end processes, captured transformation-specific attributes and created SAP-ready process assets to support future design and implementation activities.
Alongside the delivery of process documentation, Enfuse provided structured training, governance support and capability development to help embed sustainable process management practices within the organisation.
Impact
The engagement provided the organisation with a strong operational foundation for its SAP S/4HANA transformation.
Key outcomes included:
- A complete and validated process baseline across critical ERP process areas.
- Creation of 200 SAP-ready process models covering core O2C and P2P activities.
- Documentation of 17 transformation-specific attributes required for programme mobilisation and future design activities.
- Improved business readiness and confidence ahead of system integrator onboarding.
- Establishment of a sustainable BPM capability that could be leveraged across future transformation initiatives.
- Reduced mobilisation risk through improved process visibility and validated business requirements.
- Delivery of additional strategic support beyond the initial engagement, reflecting confidence in the approach and outcomes achieved.
The work enabled the organisation to enter the next phase of its transformation programme with greater clarity, stronger governance and a more informed business stakeholder community.
