Why AI Can’t Replace Agile Coaches
Over the last few months, we’ve seen more and more AI tools claiming to write a backlog, generate a roadmap, and prioritise user stories with a click.
It’s making a lot of people wonder: do we still need Scrum Masters? Product Owners? And why would we need an Agile coach to teach us what AI is automating?
At first glance, these are all fair questions. If a tool can generate Jira tickets and prioritise them based on pre-defined criteria, one could be led to think that the human input becomes increasingly less essential.
But… have you ever worked in an organisation? Any organisation, in any team.
Then you know that Agile was never about creating and organising tasks.
Its true value lies in dealing with human issues. In the conversations that make sense of the work, the decisions that need more than data, and the team moments where clarity comes from sitting with the problem long enough to ask better questions.
So, is AI going to replace you as an Agile practitioner?
The short answer: no.
The long answer: it’s in the lines below.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be releasing articles from our brand new series: “Why AI Can’t.” We’ll explore the vital roles within agile teams that AI simply can’t replace - and why human insight still matters most. Stay tuned!
